November 2024 SAT Word List
I've culled 34 words that are said to have appeared on the Nov 2024 SAT.
Disclaimer
I’ve used public sources to gather these words; I’ve got no guarantees that they actually showed up on the November SAT.
However, I’ve gone through the list several times, and they are all important to know, whether they were tested on the November test or not.
Note that I’ve included the words in the form they appeared in, not necessarily in their ‘lemma’ (i.e., the form you’d look up in the dictionary). For example, catalyzing appears in the list below, and I’ve listed it as catalyzing rather than as catalyze.

Nov 2024 SAT Vocab List with Definitions and Examples
amorphous
Definition: Having no fixed shape or form, like a blob 🫐 (synonyms: shapeless, formless)
Example: The sculptures looked like amorphous shapes to me; I couldn't even tell that one of them represented the decay of society.
anomalous
Definition: Deviating from what's normal or expected 🤔 (synonyms: abnormal, aberrant, odd)
Example: Jerry's absence was anomalous; he's pretty much always in class.
authentic
Definition: Genuine, real, and true to itself
Example: In a world of Instagram filters, Sarah's unedited photos stood out as refreshingly authentic.
belie
Definition: To give a false impression or contradict 🎭
Example: Jake's calm expression belied the anxiety he felt before giving his class presentation.
catalyzing
Definition: Causing or accelerating change or action ⚡
Example: One viral TikTok was catalyzing a whole new dance trend across the school.
confounded
Definition: Confused or perplexed by something unexpected 😵
Example: The physics teacher was confounded when every student aced the supposedly difficult test.
continuity
Definition: Unbroken flow or connection between parts (synonyms: continuousness, persistence)
Example: Marvel fans are obsessed with checking the continuity between different movies in the movies.
corroborated
Definition: Confirmed or supported with evidence (kind of like: backed up, as in a story)
Example: Mykah's story about the missing homework was corroborated by security camera footage showing his dog actually eating it.
dispersed
Definition: Scattered or distributed over a wide area (similar to: spread out)
Example: After the fire alarm, the students dispersed across the football field like startled pigeons.
disregarded
Definition: Ignored or treated as unimportant
Example: The "No Running" sign by the pool was completely disregarded during the summer party.
enchanted
Definition: Filled with delight or wonder; captivated
Example: Like everyone watching Wednesday on Netflix for the first time, Amina was completely enchanted by Jenna Ortega's iconic dance scene.
epitomize
Definition: To be a perfect example or representation of something (synonym: embody)
Example: Taylor Swift's "Anti-Hero" and its viral TikTok dance 💃 epitomize how modern pop songs become cultural phenomena.
exorbitant
Definition: Unreasonably high or excessive 💸 (synonyms: astronomical, outrageous)
Example: "$50 for a plain white T-shirt at Zara? That's exorbitant!"
exploiting
Definition: Using something or someone unfairly for one's own advantage (similar to: taking advantage of)
Example: A certain mobile gaming company was criticized for exploiting players by charging $18 for basic character skins in their free-to-play game. 🎮
feasible
Definition: Capable of being done or accomplished; possible 💫 (synonyms: doable, achievable)
Example: "Finishing this entire season of Stranger Things in one weekend is totally feasible," Jake said, stocking up on snacks. 🍿
forestall
Definition: To prevent or delay something by acting first (similar to: preempt, prevent)
Example: Students sometimes like to ask lots of questions to forestall the administration of a test.
fraudulent
Definition: Intended to deceive; fake or counterfeit ⚠️ (synonyms: deceptive, phony)
Example: The influencer apologized after promoting fraudulent Hermeeze bags that turned out to be knockoffs.
ignoble
Definition: Not honorable in character or purpose 👎 (synonyms: dishonorable, shameful)
Example: A life of cheating shaped Chad's ignoble character.
incongruous
Definition: Out of place; not in harmony or keeping with surroundings (synonyms: mismatched, incompatible)
Example: Wearing Crocs with a formal prom dress seemed incongruous, but somehow Dallice made it work as a fashion statement. 👗
indoctrinated
Definition: Taught to accept a set of beliefs without questioning them 🤔 (synonyms: brainwashed, conditioned)
Example: After binge-watching all of BTS's music videos, Summer had become completely indoctrinated into the K-pop fandom.
insurmountable
Definition: Too difficult or challenging to overcome 🏔️ (synonyms: unconquerable, overwhelming)
Example: The challenges seemed insurmountable, but Rance was determined to succeed.
irrefutable
Definition: Impossible to deny or disprove ✅ (synonyms: undeniable, indisputable)
Example: The American public is still waiting for irrefutable evidence that UAPs (formerly known as UFOs) exist.
monetizing
Definition: Converting something into a source of profit 💰 (related to: commercializing, capitalizing)
Example: After reaching 100K followers, Zeynep started looking into monetizing her BookTok account by partnering with the site named after the forest referred to as the lungs of the planet.
obscurity
Definition: The state of being unknown or forgotten (synonyms: anonymity, invisibility)
Example: That indie game went from total obscurity to viral sensation after Mr. Feast made a video about it.
palpable
Definition: So intense it can be felt or touched 🫱 (synonyms: tangible, noticeable)
Example: The excitement was palpable in the cafeteria when the principal announced that the more expensive vendor had been chosen to cater homecoming.
prevailing
Definition: Most common or dominant at a particular time 📈 (synonyms: predominant, current)
Example: The prevailing trend on BeReal is posting late and blaming it on "forgetting to check my phone." 📱
sophisticated
Definition: Complex, refined, or advanced in a way that shows knowledge and experience ✨ (synonyms: cultured, elaborate)
Example: The phone's new features are so sophisticated that you can get preemptive reminders based on your past habits and location. (Though a bit scary, if you think about it.)
substantial
Definition: Large in amount, value, or importance 💪 (synonyms: significant, considerable)
Example: Emma saw a substantial increase in her SAT score after she committed to studying at least two hours a week.
subtlety
Definition: The quality of being delicate, slight, or indirect 🤫 (synonym: nuance)
Example: The subtlety in the poem was easy to miss.
surpassed
Definition: Exceeded or went beyond 🏆 (synonyms: outperformed, outdid)
Example: Minecraft finally surpassed 300 million copies sold, making other games look tiny in comparison.
transgression
Definition: An act that breaks a law, rule, or moral code 🚫 (synonyms: violation, offense)
Example: Plagiarism is a serious transgression at most colleges.
underscore
Definition: To emphasize or draw attention to something important ⭐ (synonyms: highlight, stress)
Example: The success of Barbie and Oppenheimer really underscores how much people missed going to movie theaters after quarantining.
understated
Definition: Presented or expressed in a subtle, modest way 🤌 (synonyms: low-key, modest)
Example: In an understated expression of gratitude, the athlete simply smiled and mouthed the words "Thank you, Mom."
warranted
Definition: Justified or having good reason 📝 (synonyms: legitimate, reasonable)
Example: The hype around the new ramen restaurant was totally warranted.
